Jon Trafford, Rector Peterhouse Group of Schools 2020

We are pleased to announce that Mr Jon Trafford has been appointed as Rector of the Peterhouse Group of Schools commencing January 2020.

Jon Trafford will be well known to many Petreans and parents. He started his teaching career at Peterhouse in 1985 and left in 1991 as a much respected member of staff and housemaster. He joined the staff of the International School of South Africa, Mafikeng and was a housemaster there. In 1996 Jon moved to Michaelhouse as a teacher/housemaster before moving to assume the role of founding Head at Chesterhouse in Durbanville in the Western Cape.

In 2008 Jon joined the staff of Kingswood in Grahamstown as Senior School Head, going on to become College Head and eventually Executive Head of The College Foundation. Jon has achieved high levels of professional development in Southern Africa and further afield and maintained close links with and senior roles in SAHISA and ISASA.

He, with the support of his family, is ideally suited to take on the role of Rector of Peterhouse and we wish his every success.

We look forward to welcoming Jon, Gwyneth and their three daughters to the Peterhouse community in the New Year.

Howard Blackett will step down from his role as Rector of the Peterhouse Group of Schools at the end of the Michaelmas Term 2019 (i.e. officially on 31 December). Howard and his wife Susie have been with us since January 2013 and they have decided that the time is right for them to return to the UK. Howard and Susie have made a significant contribution to the life and ethos of Peterhouse which I know will be their lasting legacy.
